Proposed bill would ban food stamp recipients from buying junk food

A proposed bill in Texas would ban food stamp recipients from buying junk food using food stamps.

Proposed by Texas State Rep. Briscoe Cain, House Bill 4364 would prevent recipients from buying soda, candy, chips and energy drinks with their food stamps.

If passed, the bill would take effect Sept. 1, 2019.

  1. Cut out the junk food and get back to basics. Basic meals could cut back on childhood obesity.
