The 12-year-old girl who was pulled from a fire last week has died.
According to the Titus County Sheriff’s Office, she passed away Sunday after firefighters rescued her from the burning home on PR 3234.
Just before 7:30 p.m., Mt. Pleasant firefighters, along with Argo, Tri-Lakes, Sugar Hill, 5-Star, Cookville, Nortex and Talco volunteer fire departments responded to reports of a mobile home on fire on PR 3234.
“While enroute to the call, the fire dispatcher advised responding units that a child was in the home,” officials said. “The Mt. Pleasant Fire Department firefighters arrived to find the mobile home fully involved in the fire and the bystanders stating that a child was inside.”
Mt. Pleasant Fire Department Captain Adam Decker and firefighters Stuart Thompson and Caleb Daniels entered the burning structure fighting fire as they made their way to a rear bedroom, where they located the child.
“The firefighters rescued the child and made their way out of the structure,” officials said. “Once outside the burning home, the firefighters determined the child was unconscious and not breathing.”
Captain Craig Eudy and firefighter Brian Fairchild began CPR and continued until Titus Regional EMS units arrived on the scene and took over.
She died in a Dallas-area hospital.
