The Mt. Pleasant Police Department reminded citizens today that a Mt. Pleasant ordinance requires outdoor salespersons to obtain a solicitation permit.

The department reported that door to door roofers and vehicle dent removal solicitations have been on the rise in light of the recent hail storm in the area. The city does not give out company permits, which means each salesperson needs their own permit in order to go door to door legally.

If someone is offering a service, the department urges citizens to verify that the salesperson has a Mt. Pleasant Solicitation Permit. Salespersons must display the permit to the buyer to avoid violating the law.

Ther permit assures buyers that the City has conducted a background check and that they have been approved. If you have a complaint about a solicitor call 903-575-4004.

The solicitation application must be printed and filled out. You must provide all required documentation requested to the Police Department or you will not be approved.
