‘Spring Clean Up Day’ slated for Saturday, May 12, 2018

The city of Mount Pleasant and Allied Waste are sponsoring a “Spring Clean Up Day” for city residents.

On Saturday, May 12, 208, between 8 a.m.-1 p.m., Republic Services at the Pleasant Oaks Landfill will accept trash from residents at no charge.

Residents who wish to dispose of appliances such as refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, washers, and dryers can take the items to the Pleasant Oaks Landfill. Compressors should be removed from appliances if possible. Items that will not be accepted include tires, batteries, paint and oil.

The city will not pick up items curbside, officials said. All items must be taken to the landfill at 3031 FM 3417.

The Cypress Basin Hospice Thrift Store at 109 N. Madison, Goodwill Industries at 2705 W. Ferguson Road, and the Safe-T Resale Store at 1014 W. 1st Street accept donations of good, clean, used clothing, small household items and working appliances.

These donations may be tax deductible.
